B.D. Somani International School is an International Baccalaureate Diploma and IGCSE certified Reception to Grade 12 school in the Cuffe Parade area in South Mumbai.

B.D. Somani offers students an internationally recognized curriculum, while maintaining a connection with the values, culture and roots of our country. We focus on social as well as intellectual development of the students to equip them to be successful in the global community of the 21st century. We offer the Cambridge International curriculum through grades 6 to 10 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in grades 11 and 12.

B.D. Somani International School offers its students an internationally recognised curriculum in an Indian setting. The school focuses on social as well as intellectual development of the students to equip them to take their place in the global community of the 21st century. In an atmosphere that values academic excellence, the school seeks to encourage respect for individuality and self-awareness. At B. D. Somani, we aim to nurture and develop the potential of each of our students and to prepare them to become dynamic, caring and productive members of a democratic and interdependent society

Central to our mission as educators is a total commitment to student health, safety and wellbeing. Whilst the global pandemic may have prompted modifications to the manner in which we deliver the BDSIS experience, we have remained steadfast in our promise to offer a world-class education to our community of young scholars. Through the implementation of best practices in distance learning, we successfully delivered online lessons last term, moving quickly to leverage the talents of faculty, staff and our IT department to ensure uninterrupted student learning in the midst of nationwide school closures. As we look forward to physically welcoming students back to campus later this school year, we will do so in accordance with the most current guidance from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. BDSIS’ key to success has been the abiding support and cooperation received from the entire school community of students, teachers, staff and administrators. Ever aware that uncertainties still lie ahead, we remain confident in our students to not only cope, but thrive in this challenging environment. Due to major disruptions in the standardized testing schedule caused by the global pandemic, ACT, SAT, TOEFL and IELTS administrations were mostly unavailable to students throughout India, from March to November 2020.

PRINCIPAL’S ROLL
Awarded to students who achieve  A-/A/A+ in every course, with no effort grade less than 1. Approximately 5% of our students achieve this award every semester.

HONOUR ROLL
Awarded at the end of every semester to students who achieve a minimum grade of B in every course, and an effort grade no less than 2.

CLASS VALEDICTORIAN
Awarded to a student who has achieved the highest academic grades in his/her class in grades 11 and 12.

BEST STUDENT
Awarded at the end of every academic year to the best student in each subject, based on their academic performance in the subject throughout the academic year.

CITIZENSHIP AWARD
Presented at the end of the academic year to an exceptionally motivated and dedicated student from Grade 12 for engagement with the school community.

We believe that participation in ECAs is critical to overall development of students. We encourage our students to be involved with the activities outside the classroom and offer a variety of sports as well as cultural, service, and personal enrichment activities. These include Model United Nations, Theatre productions, Student Council, Yearbook, BD Broadcast, BD Idol and Work Experience Week amongst others.
