On 11th October, students from Grade 12 set out to make a difference — one handful of litter at a time. Their beach cleanup at Chowpatty was more than a community service activity; it became a lesson in responsibility, teamwork, and environmental awareness. Here’s what some of them had to say about the experience.
Our entire grade took part in a beach cleanup at Chowpatty Beach, and it was an experience I’ll never forget. It was really hot that day, but working together to pick up trash felt surprisingly good. Seeing how much waste had piled up along the shore was shocking, it made us realize how much we take our beaches for granted. Even though the beach looked only a little cleaner by the end, it felt meaningful to do something for the environment and to see firsthand how big the problem really is.

The beach cleanup was a reformative experience; seeing the amount of trash and working together to clean up was something that I had never done before, but it was truly a fulfilling experience. Seeing the various things that had been thrown was surprising, and seeing the state of the beach that many people use daily this dirty, really put in perspective the scale of the pollution. Overall, It was fulfilling to try to make a collaborative impact through cleaning.

The beach cleanup experience was a rewarding one, allowing us to make a difference towards our environment. Seeing the amount of waste on the beaches made us realise how our actions hurt nature more than we can imagine. Collecting massive amounts of garbage was a testament to the effort we put in. A big thank you to our school for organising such an activity, helping us understand the necessity of taking up such initiatives.
