B.D. Somani International School Celebrates 14 Years of Impact through ‘Squash A Mile’

On Sunday, September 27, B.D. Somani International School hosted the 14th annual edition of Squash A Mile (SAM) at the Bombay Gymkhana. The event brought together students, educators, and community members to run 165 laps of a squash court in solidarity with individuals and families battling cancer.

Organised in partnership with the V Care Foundation — an organisation that has supported over 10.8 lakh patients in the last five years — SAM combines physical effort with purpose. This year, our student volunteers raised ₹15 Lakhs, bringing the total funds raised over the past 13+ years to over ₹3,00,00,000 and providing critical medical aid to more than 4,500 underprivileged patients.

A Legacy of Student Leadership

This year’s edition held particular significance for our nine Grade 12 student organisers: Thea Ajoomal, Rianna Holland, Sohaya Ahuja, Mahika Jain, Tanvi Patel, Ananya Mehra, Shloka Patel, Ananya Dalal, and Imaan Virji. Marking their fourth and final year leading SAM before graduation, these students have demonstrated that meaningful change is built through consistency, commitment, and sustained service.

We extend our gratitude to Principal Navroz Billimoria, Dean of Students Shalini Sharma, IGCSE Coordinator Kaizeen Jehangir, and CAS Coordinator Saiti Datta for their guidance and mentorship in sustaining this initiative since its founding in 2012 by alumni Rhea and Rohaan Advani.

As our graduating student leaders prepare to pass the baton to the next generation, they leave behind a strong culture of empathy and civic responsibility across our school community.
