A new chapter at B.D. Somani: Embracing the PYP journey

In his latest vlog, Dr. Geoffrey Fisher, Head of School at B.D. Somani International School, extends Diwali wishes to the community and shares exciting updates on the school’s adoption of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum.

Reflecting on Diwali as a time for family and togetherness, Dr. Fisher underscores the importance of retaining B.D. Somani’s progressive and student-centered ethos while introducing the globally recognised PYP framework.

This shift aligns with the school’s values, offering professional growth for teachers, enhancing learning systems, and creating a seamless, inquiry-based experience from preschool through Grade 6.

Starting after Diwali, the school’s formal journey to becoming a PYP candidate school is set to begin, with implementation projected for January 2026. Dr. Fisher invites the community to celebrate this new chapter and to reach out with questions after the Diwali break.

Tribes for Good: Community Project

Through our partnership with Tribes For Good, Grade 11 student Vipanshi Agarwal designed and led a series of workshops for women with skills in beauty and makeup — combining financial literacy, confidence-building, and awareness of cruelty-free practices. What she found was that the skills were already there. What was missing was someone connecting those skills to the idea of income. This is her reflection on what it means to create impact, and what she learned when she stopped trying to teach and started listening.
