Dr Geoff’s latest vlog: A year of reigniting what we stand for at B.D. Somani

In his last vlog of the year, Dr Geoff reflects on the year gone by, amazed at how quickly time has flown. He is confident it is the B.D. Somani has recaptured its core values, fostering a caring community of learners who support each other’s growth and development.

Dr Geoff expresses satisfaction with the year’s achievements, particularly the successful completion of IB, IGCSE, checkpoint exams, and MAP tests. These assessments have yielded positive outcomes, reflecting the school’s ongoing efforts in pedagogy and classroom management. Next year’s focus will be on integrating technology into the classroom with iPads, smart boards, and computers to enhance student engagement and differentiated instruction.

Dr Geoff addresses the negative impact of mobile phones on students’ health and announces that Secondary School will join Primary in prohibiting mobile phones on campus. This decision aims to help students focus on their school activities without distractions.

He proudly highlights our exceptional university admissions results, with students accepted into prestigious institutions such as NYU, Harvey Mudd, Imperial, UCLA, and LSE. He congratulates students and the University Guidance team for their hard work.

Dr Geoff also bids farewell to Ms Minal, a dedicated teacher and principal who has served the school for 13 years. He praises her expertise in pedagogy and curriculum, as well as her caring and committed nature. Dr. Fisher expresses his gratitude for her contributions and wishes her well in her future endeavours.

He thanks the whole school community—students, parents, and staff—for making B.D. Somani a vibrant and interesting place. Dr. Fisher encourages graduating class to stay connected with the school! He wishes everyone a great summer and looks forward to seeing the returning students in August.

Introducing BEAMS Volume II: Science Inside Out

The BDSIS student-led science journal returns with Volume II: Science Inside Out, the work of a team of editors and designers from Grades 9 and 11, now available in the school library and online.

Tribes for Good: Community Project

Through our partnership with Tribes For Good, Grade 11 student Vipanshi Agarwal designed and led a series of workshops for women with skills in beauty and makeup — combining financial literacy, confidence-building, and awareness of cruelty-free practices. What she found was that the skills were already there. What was missing was someone connecting those skills to the idea of income. This is her reflection on what it means to create impact, and what she learned when she stopped trying to teach and started listening.
