Dr Geoff’s April Vlog: Celebrating Student Success and Looking Towards the Future

Hey there! Welcome to Dr Geoffrey Fisher’s, April vlog, where he’s excited to share some important updates!
But first, he acknowledges the hard work and dedication of our B.D. students, especially those in grades 10 and 12 who have been preparing for their official exams by taking mock exams. Dr Geoff wishes them all the best and is thrilled to report that the excellent outcome of the mock exams, which is a great sign for what’s to come.
Dr Geoff is also proud of the school’s career counselling process and our counsellors, who have played a crucial role in guiding students towards excellent universities that align with their career goals. Our students have been accepted into top universities like Georgetown, Tufts, and University College London in programmes that are suited to their goals and interests.
The graduation ceremony is just around the corner, and Dr Geoff wishes all the students well as they embark on the next phase of their lives. He encourages them to come back as alumni, as he’s sure they’ll have plenty of interesting stories to share about their experiences at the school.
Dr Geoff recently attended the IB Global Conference in Adelaide (where he also celebrated his mother’s 93rd birthday). He found the conference enlightening, with outstanding keynote speakers who provided a different perspective on the problems they’re all facing. He’s particularly pleased about the formal recognition of the association of IB heads of Indian and South Asian schools by the International Baccalaureate. This will allow South Asian schools to influence the IB and be part of a supportive community.
Dr Geoff also attended a session on the future of the IB Diploma and how it might look going forward. The IB is exploring ways to change the way it assesses students, as relying solely on high-stakes exams has its advantages but also significant disadvantages for students. The school has been selected to pilot some open-book assessments in a couple of subjects, and Dr Fisher is excited to explore how this might work.
In closing, Dr Geoff talks about the coming month, which will be quite hectic. He hopes that the students will continue to excel in their exams and find the career path that suits them best.

Thanks for tuning in!
