Grade 1 at B.D. Somani
At B.D. Somani, the transition from Early Years to Primary School centred on vigour, wonder and play. The foundation of their learning is still Block work, and we facilitate a deeper engagement with their immediate environment in a more complex and layered manner. First graders delve deeper into mathematical concepts, practise immense amounts of writing, learn to make mental maps, and also carry out activities like gardening and cooking. Teachers in Grade 1 are committed to encouraging students’ enjoyment of reading, thinking critically, observing, and drawing conclusions. They employ a variety of tactics and strategies to adapt to individual learning styles and maturity levels.

Kindergarten at B.D. Somani
Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten are exciting years at B.D. Somani. In these grades, our students focus on inquiry and curiosity, and build their essential motor, social, emotional, and linguistic foundations. Their days are structured in a way that gives them ample time to explore different kinds and methods of learning – including Block Building, Story Time, Number Time and so on. Students are also introduced to gardening, cooking and field trips to locations of interest. In Junior K and K, students develop self-confidence, sharpen their thinking abilities and equip themselves with the skills they need to thrive in Primary School.

Reception: Where learning begins
Reception at B.D. Somani is your child’s gateway into the wonderful world of learning through questions and creativity. Our curriculum is designed to place their curiosities at the centre, and we strive to provide a welcoming environment that fosters inquisitiveness, discipline and community bonding.

Reflections on Tree Plantation
The climate is changing and B.D. Somani students want to put their best foot forward to combat its dangers. The EMERALD sustainable foundation, CPRA, and MCGM Corporator, Ms. Harshita Narwekar, organised a tree plantation drive on the 5th of June 2022 – World Environment Day at CPRA Greens garden. Manshika and Lahar from Grade 11 and Mr. Siddhesh volunteered to highlight that small endeavours are the stepping stones to fighting against the environmental challenges we all face.

Art Reflections
Lo and behold! B.D. Somani grade 6 students put up a series of Greek mythological plays and art exhibits, inspired by their Greek history lessons. In the process, not only did they make their own props with reference to actual Greek artefacts, but they also tried their hand at making 3D jewellery. At B.D. Somani, a single lesson in a single subject is used to impart skills across fields and topics. Stay tuned for more!
